Team Building On The Ranch
A one-day program for 4 to 40 people
This one day program challenges participants to improve and develop their team building skills with the help of an on site trainer and experienced ranch personnel.
The day of team building activities can include round trip transportation from your hotel, and on site chuck wagon meals.
The Rancher
Dan Havens has spent his whole life working with horses--growing up on a farm in Pennsylvania, wrangling horses on Mountain Dude Ranches, and training horses for his family ranch in Westcliffe, Colorado.
His horse sense is based on a lifetime of experience. After raising many horses of his own, Havens became interested in the Wild Horse and Burro Rescue Program.
He has adopted and trained several wild mustangs for trail riding and ranch work.
He served for fifteen years as a law enforcement officer in Colorado, where he implemented and led a mounted patrol unit, acted as a field training officer, and participated as a wildland firefighter.
The Ranch
Our ranch facility is approximately 30 minutes from down town Denver.
Our larger facility is 20 minutes from Canon City.
Sorting Calves
After a brief safety discussion by the trainer is given.
This is followed by an overview of essential team building practices.
A number of teams are formed and team leaders are selected.
Each team then maneuvers a number of calves into a holding pen.
The team with the best score wins!
In a comfortable out door rest area, our on site trainer then leads a dynamic discussion that covers several team related issues. Getting team members to work together, clarifying the goals, getting everyone to do their part, how team leaders selected their teams, and other challenges of getting people to work together are discussed.
Lunch
Roping
A number of teams are formed and team leaders are selected.
Our ranch owner is an expert ropes man and will teach a short coarse on how to rope.
Using a roping dummy and tic-t ac-toe board, members from each team then try to rope the dummy.
The trainer coaches team members to use new and innovative ways to increase team spirit and loyalty, get team members to improve their skill, support and encourage other team members, teach other members how to improve and win the game!
The winning team gets a special prize!
Camp Fire
The day ends around the camp fire with stories, insights and a round table discussion.
A complete chuck wagon dinner may be included.
